

Ephesus is a highlight of any visit to Turkey, one of the well preserved archiological cities of the Roman Empire. The once flourishing ancient port , had 250,000 inhabitants at its peak, was the center of trade and had the world's first bank. Of all the ancient cities in Turkey, Ephesus with it's 5,000 years of history is the best preserved and most visited in all ages. Many VIPs of ancient history like Lydian King Croesus, Alexander the Great, St. Paul , St. John, Virgin Mary walked on the marble paved streets of this magnificent city. To fulfill his pledge to Jesus, St. John brought Madonna here to protect her. Ephesus is one of the Seven Churches: Revelation 1:11:2:1-17 Acts 18:19-28:19. Ephesus is famous for Celsus Library , open air toilets and a brothel. Also a 25,000 seat capasity theatre, where stars such as Sting, Diana Ross and Elton John have performed. After a buffet style lunch, visit St. John's Basilica and Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world. We'll then depart for a visit to Virgin Mary's house which is an important pilgrimage destination and had Papal visits in the recent years. A visit to Temple of Apollo, a newer finished Temple in Didim with it's towering 120 columns, colossal Temple of Apollo was the third largest Temple of antiquity. Didim ( Didyma ) is the home of the god Apollo where only priests were allowed to enter and consult the Oracle. The word "Didyma" literally means twins. Apollo and Artemis ( twin brothers in myth ) were both born in Didim, the Temple of Apollo was built in Didim whilst the Temple of Artemis was built in nearby Miletos. The two places were connected by The Sacred Road. A statue of Poseidon and a masssive head of Medusa are just a few things to see in the Temple. Miletos, famous for producing many famous philosophers, geographers, mathematicians and architects is also the home of the best preserved amphi theatre in Western Anatolia. Thales was born there in 640 BC. The natural philosophers, Anaximender , the famous historian and geographer Hekatios, the town plannning architect Hippodomos and Isidoros, one of the designers of St Sophia in Istanbul, also Phsagoras are just a few to name. While roaming round the ruins of Miletos, you might try to imagine the philosophers who once lived here working to solve the mysteries of the universe. Although the words of the philosophers have long been blown in the wind; the lives in the houses together with their appliances have long disappeared, leaving the city naked as a marble skeleton. Priene is the last city on the Sacred Road. The city, built according to the plan of the famous architect Hippodamos of Miletos is popularly known as the Anatolian Pompei with its amazingly well preserved architecture. A quick visit to a nearby village existing from the 17th century famous with it's authentic village houses , also offering an unforgettable sightseeing experience of River Meander's Delta that used to be a sea about 2000 years ago. At the end of day, you'll have a chance to chill out at the shores of Dilek Peninsula National Park, a protected bird sanctuary where thousands of species some of them endangered breed. Bafa Lake was an ancient gulf which used to be part of the Aegean Sea. Heracleia , a Carian Port built on the bottom of the gulf at the shores of Kapikiri Island. During the 7th century after AD, certain hermits travelled from the Sinai and and built chapels and monasteries along the shores of today's Bafa Lake and on it's tiny islands. Visit Heracleia and stroll around the Kapikiri Village taking in sights such as Endymon Temple, Temple of Athena. After a menu style lunch, departure for a peacefull boat trip on the lake with many bays and see the ruins of Byzantine Castle on a small island. You'll also have a chance to swim and watch the spectacular scenery of the Bafa Lake National Park, a protected bird sanctuary, where many endangered species breed. Dalyan is where you'll find ample opportunity to explore one of the largest National Parks Turkey has to offer.It is also where " African Queen" was filmed and where the British Royal Family holiday. For the nature lovers among you, the scenery is spectacular and the wildlife is wonderful ( home to the Loggerhead Turtles among other species ). You will enjoy the boat cruise on the River up to the Dalyan Delta to the mud baths for a bit of beauty therapy. Cover yourself from head to toe in this therapeutic warm mud acts as the best anti-ageing potion around. After a menu style lunch at lakeside, we'll go on our boat cruise to the Iztuzu Beach ( Turtle Beach ) which seperates the river from the sea. Turtle Beach is a conservation area, due to existance of the Loggerhead ( Caretta Caretta ) Turtles that have existed for some 90 million years. Sulfur Springs and mud baths of the delta bear wittness to the healing powers of nature and where the streams flow into Mediterranean Sea. This is one of the surviving corners of paradise which also offers magnificient views of the ancient rock tombs of Lycean King's along the way. Kos is a small Greek Island with its peacefull town with whitewashed buildings including many hotels, restaurants, and a small number of nightclubs forming the famous Kos town "barstreet". The town has a 14th century fortress at the entrance to it's harbour, erected in 1315 by the Knights of Saint John of Rhodes. The ancient physician Hippocrates is thought to have born on Kos, and in the center of town is the Plane Tree of Hippocrates, a dream temple where the physician is traditionally supposed to have taught. This small town is also home to the International Hippocratic Institute and Hippocratic Museum dedicated to him. Near the institute are the ruins of Asklepieion, where Herodicus taught Hippocrates medicine. Departing at 06.30
